In 2015, a revision to the U.S. Code changed how the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act was numbered and cited.
The House of Representatives Office of the Law Revision Counsel eliminated the appendix to Title 50 of the U.S. Code on Dec. 1, 2015. The appendix had been a repository for various, temporary pieces of legislation. Thus, the House determined that lasting, permanent legislation would be better placed as a chapter within the actual U.S. Code. This renumbering did not change any of the wording of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act — it only changed how the Act is cited.
See the table below for section numbers and classifications to the U.S. Code revision. These were made in the course of eliminating the appendix to Title 50. You will see the former code number, the new one and the section numbers of the original act.
